Phylogenetic trees were generated by Neighbour joining algorithm in PHYLIP from partial 16S rRNA systems. DNA was collected from prokaryotes sampled at various locations around the world , DNA extracted, 16S rRNA genes amplified by PCR with "universal" primers located at E.coli position number 536 forward and 1392 reverse, cloned and sequenced.

The L200, L400, R200, R400 etc here symbolize the E.coli positions as shown below:

Full length - E.Coli 16S rRNA position numbers 537-1392

L200-E.coli 16S rRNA position numbers 537-737 R200-E.coli 16S rRNA position numbers 1192-1392

L300-E.coli 16S rRNA position numbers 537-837

R300-E.coli 16S rRNA position numbers 1092-1392

L400-E.coli 16S rRNA position numbers 537-937

R398-E.coli 16S rRNA position numbers 994-1392
R400-E.coli 16S rRNA position numbers 992-1392
